Kangana Ranaut (born 20 March 1987 in Bhambla, Mandi district, Himachal Pradesh, India) is an Indian actress who appears in Bollywood movies.

Kangana Ranaut is from a village called Bhambla in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. She completed most of her schooling in Shimla. She studied science and wanted to be a doctor at one point. In a passion for acting, Kangana travelled to Delhi, where she did several theatre shows.

Ranaut's father is a businessman and her mother is a school teacher. Ranaut has an elder sister named Rangoli who survived an acid attack in late 2006. She is said to be dating an unknown man whom she met in South Africa.

Kangana moved to Mumbai to try her luck in movies. She was unsuccessful for quite a while, until she received the offer for Mahesh Bhatt's 2006 film Gangster. The film was critically and commercially successful, her performance was especially applauded. This was followed by another acclaimed performance in Woh Lamhe (2006). Kangana later starred in the hit film Life In A... Metro as a confused girl who is looking for a real love and in Shakalaka Boom Boom (2007) as an aspiring singer. Vogue India Launches

The inaugural issue of Vogue India hit stands today, featuring Bollywood stars Bipasha Basu, Priyanka Chopra and Preity Zinta, local supermodels MoniKangana Dutta and Laxmi Menon, and Australian supermodel Gemma Ward all on the cover, shot by fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier.

This new edition of Vogue is expected to be more colorful and more vibrant than the western models, according to Alex Kuruvilla, managing director of Conde Nast India. He also expects it to draw attention to Indian designers, Indian photographers, and even Indian models. The Vogue India woman has the best of both the eastern and western worlds: she wears Jimmy Choo shoes along with her traditional Indian garb.

The director duo Abbas-Mustan agreed to it on condition that Urvashi would drive the speedboat slow. But , when the cameras started rolling, Urvashi went off at a breakneck speed. The unit members and co-actors watching her got really worried.

She had done her part of home work before joining the film Industry.She enrolled herself in Vidhur's Creating Characters acting school and joined Kathak classes. She is a very good dancer.
